Over this final year I
have been producing work that explores perspective through the mediums of
etching, sculpture and moving image. Questioning how we perceive space and
shadows, I have been using the way light is cast to create solid forms and
mapping out areas of there existence. Transforming negative space into tangible
objects. The focus upon this work came from the research, lectures and many
gallery visits attended and set up by Adrian, from these I have felt my work
changing is a positive way and have found my interests being guided by a deeper
understanding at looking at the everyday, using simple forms around us.
I plan to work at
building up my portfolio of this work, and continue on with this project,
working towards refining plaster sculptures, using other media and testing
different sculpting techniques. I also plan to explore 3d imaging software to
create a more precise form, and look into 3D printing. I don’t feel that there
is an end piece to the type of work I am doing, it seems to be an everlasting
exploration with the process and development being the outcomes.
I would hopefully like
to continue with printmaking and other techniques I have learnt over my time at
camberwell, push myself to enter some competitions or organizing some form of
show in which to display my installation. I have made a couple of external
contacts over the past few years of living in London, which I will follow up on
to hopefully work with them on projects. I am not overly certain of the path in
which I will be going but currently it is to focus on creating more work, and
look at small galleries to work with, alongside some freelance work for
photography background set-ups.
